  1. Web Documents (WebDoc)

    Mark up the structural parts of a document with XML. Create XHTML documents. Markup of mathematical expression with MathML, vector graphics with SVG and multimedia presentation with SMIL. Grammar specification of a document with the help of DTDs and XML Schema. Using CSS for defining the presentation style and layout of Web pages. Transformation of XML documents into another XML format, or into a Web page, with the help of XSLT or into a high quality document format, such as PDF, with the help of XSL-FO. Expressing statements about Web resources with RDF and RDFS. Design ontologies with OWL and protege.

  2. Web Applications (WebApp)

    Get familiar with important technologies for Web applications and to acquire the basic skills needed for developing Web applications. Contents: Apache Web Server, PHP , JSP, EJB, EJB Application Servers(JBoss).

  3. Logic and Information Systems (LogIS)

    The goals of this lecture are:

    • To understand the fundamental ideas of the model theory in logic
    • To be able to apply model theory to the inquiry problem in relational data bases
    • To learn refinements/extensions of the model theory as basis of the semantics of RDF
    • To understand the semantics of OWL and OCL
  4. E-Business Technologies (eb-Tech)

    • Which messaging technologies can be used to implement business interactions
    • How to use Web services in e-business systems
